Today I was asked for a diet prevent to inflammation… the answer is that a natural food diet will do exactly that!

When Hippocrates said that now famous line, he had no idea that today’s food would be manufactured to the point of almost not being food any more.

‘Natural food is your best medicine’ is the best way to say it in the 21st century. Over the years, it has become apparent that certain foods have properties that can aid in our bodies’ healing abilities.

Anti-Inflammatory – Joint Healthy Soup

This soup is a quick anti-inflammatory joint-healthy dinner.

Just throw it together, no measuring. Quantities depend on how many people you want to feed and how hungry you are.

  1. In a medium sauce pot heat some water to a boil.
  2. In a large skillet or sauce pan, heat some olive oil.
  3. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
  4. Add peeled and slivered garlic, sliced cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower florets.
  5. Pour boiling water over veggies to cover. Return to a boil.
  6. Add fresh grated ginger, turmeric and washed and drained (canned) adzuki beans.
  7. Add salmon fillets to the top of the veggies-water mixture.
  8. Simmer on low for about 10 minutes or until salmon is done.
  9. Serve topped with a sprinkle of walnuts.
  10. Serve with a side dish of fresh cubed pineapple and cherries.

Yes, you are right, I just made it up….

    It’s interesting to look at this list and realize that I already eat and love most of those inflammation-fighting foods. Still have to get used to eating more cabbage (got overdosed on it as a child in post-war Germany), pineapple, and beans. Beans used to give me a lot of digestive issues, but I think I tolerate them better now in my older years.
