Government & Corporate Responsibility

The government and large corporations are partly responsible for the poor health in the world today. I could probably write a 100-page document on that heading but instead I will keep it short. I am traveling and of course it is always a challenge to find good-for-you foods on the road. The government needs to take more responsibility for the labeling requirements of foods as well as the non-food food additives that are being incorporated into the food supply. Large companies support the government and they play a huge role in the contamination of the food supply today. Over 80% of Americans have a preventable disease. When the government and the large corporations that run the government begin to take responsibility for being honest about the quality of food, then things will begin to change.

Chain Restaurants Are Not Honest

I ate breakfast at a large chain restaurant today. They had low-fat, whole wheat, “diet” selections on the menu. When I asked to see the ingredients list of the foods, I was impressed to learn that they actually had a list. I then became quite dismayed to learn that the low fat products were calorie- and chemically-laden junk. The whole wheat bread was actually almost entirely enriched white bread and there was a tiny bit of whole wheat added at about the 27th ingredient (remember this: 85% of the product is comprised of the first 3 ingredients). The “diet” breakfast foods were almost no real food and consisted of almost entirely chemicals. Calorie-free and nutritionally-deficient foods are useless!

Processed Food Is Chemically-Laden

I was equally challenged at the airport. Having eaten a white-flour, chemically-filled breakfast, I was famished and craving vegetables. Of course at the airport there was only processed food. I did manage to find a Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was obviously precooked, frozen and then microwaved. I could taste the chemicals. The chemicals in foods are setting up chain reactions of cravings in people which are contributing to the obesity issue. Chemicals are addictive and have absolutely no nutritional value. On top of that, chemical toxicity is building up in our systems, causing a host of other issues. Children are very susceptible to toxins, and toxicity levels in kids today are bringing previously adults-only diseases on for children at a very young age. The symptoms of chemical toxin buildup are neurological, endocrine and behavior disorders. Can we see the problems here?

Make Responsible Choices

I do believe that the government and corporate America has to take a more positive proactive stand in food quality and stop deceiving the public for a quick dollar. I also know that it is everyone’s responsibility to know what they are putting in their mouths and in the mouths of their children. What you eat and buy is a choice. You must take responsibility for your choices. Anyone with children cannot afford to ignore this issue; take the time to learn about the foods you are buying. In the FREE recording on the “8 Biggest Health Mistakes” that most people make, the number 8 mistake is that most people trust that the government is watching out for the quality of the food supply. This could not be further from the truth. The government, which is run by big business, is watching out for the wallets of the companies that create foods. When we the people become more willing to take responsibility for understanding the situation and becoming our own advocates, then the government will be forced to do a better job of protecting our foods.

We Are Responsible For Food Quality

When was the last time you looked at the ingredients list in a restaurant? Have you ever told the manager that the chemically laden foods are unacceptable to you? Do you write letters or emails to big-name companies who advertise their product as being “all natural” and the ingredients include chemicals and man-made sugars? Do you know which sugars are the man-made sugars?

Think about those questions and decide what responsibility you have in accepting or rejecting chemically-laden and inferior foods for your family. Remember that money talks and the consumer represents the profit. When we take responsibility and tell big companies and government that we will only accept quality foods, then government and the companies will make changes.
