I eat a lot of avocado and it never occurred to me to grill them until I saw a picture of a grilled half avocado on Pinterest.

Since the picture that I saw looked like an artistic rendition (too perfect) I decided to document my experiment and show how it looks when a real person grills an avocado.

This how to make a grilled avocado:

  • Cut a ripe avocado in half

What Does A Grilled Avocado Taste Like?

When I first contemplated grilling an avocado, I could not imagine what it would taste like.

A grilled avocado tastes almost exactly like a raw avocado. The texture is a bit smoother and the grilled parts have a bit of sweetness but generally the flavor is not that much different.

I think that a grilled avocado would be best suited for enjoying an avocado when you do not have any ripe ones ready to eat.

Eating an avocado as part of a daily diet will help with your cholesterol levels, so if none are ripe, throw one on the grill.

Like a peach or a banana, Rosalyn, Everyone likes them a different ripeness but an avocado is riper when it softer. As it ripens it will get darker.

Push on them with the flat of your thumb at the grocery store, kind of like you would a peach.
