Drink More Water!

Lose Weight-Drink Water

The number one biggest health mistake that most people make is that they do not drink enough water.

We are talking water….
not coffee, soda, juice, milk…just plain water.

Everyone has heard that they should be drinking 8-10 glasses per day, but few people do. The fact is that the majority of the population walks around in a constant state of dehydration. The first symptom of dehydration is hunger, followed by headache, then: dry sinus, dry skin, unjustified stress, fatigue, lack of concentration, dry eyes to name a few.

Why Drink More Water?!

Basically water makes your body work!! You can not lose weight, deal with stress, eliminate waste, digest food, grow new cells, metabolize nutrients or perform any bodily function properly without water.

drink more waterYour blood vessels AKA “the river of life must distribute all your nutrients to your brain and throughout your body.

Picture your blood vessels slightly collapsed. If your bloodstream cannot deliver all of your nutrients to your cells, even the finest diet and nutrition cannot be utilized to regenerate your health and fight off disease. The single most important thing to insure your future health is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water (80 ounces for a 160 lb. person) per day.

Your Water Solution

Here is the water solution:

  • Right now, measure the amount of water your water bottle holds. Let’s say it is 15 ounces.
  • Put 5 rubber bands on the bottle and fill it with water.
  • Every time you refill, take a rubber band off and in only a day or two you will be up to capacity with water and feeling better for it.
  • It takes 51 days to make a habit so stick with it for almost 2 months then it will come naturally. You will do it automatically without the rubber bands.

I will bet that you will feel better when you are hydrated.

Benefits Of Drinking More Water

You will experience many benefits when you drink more water. Headaches will disappear, sinus problems will go away, you will have more energy and it will be easier to follow your weight loss program.

Did you know that most Americans mistake thirst for hunger? When you are fully hydrated you will not be as hungry and you will increase your metabolism.

Try drinking more water and then come back to this post after 51 days and comment on the changes in your life. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Increase Your Metabolism Program

Lose Weight With Negative Calorie Foods

What are negative calorie foods?

negative calorie foodsNegative calorie foods or negative carb foods are ones which burn more calories in the digestion process than you get by eating them.

Some examples are celery, cabbage, cucumbers, chili peppers and broccoli. Negative calorie foods are terrific to include in your weight loss program because they are filling due to the high fiber content and you still get plenty of vitamins and minerals from them. It is a win-win situation.

Anything that is not fat or protein is a carb — that includes all of your veggies, dairy, fruits, sugars, and grains.

what are good carbsAll carbs are not created equal though. The nutrient content plays a big role in a carb’s value as does the fiber content. When buying processed carbs always pick whole foods so that you are getting the natural wholesome goodness that you deserve.

After that when you look at the ingredients list check out the fiber content. This will give you a good indication of the total carbs. Deduct the fiber from the carbs and that will give you the net carbs.

Which Ones Are Negative Calorie Foods

Legumes are carbs and they are really good for you but they are not negative carbs. Actually they have a pretty high carbohydrate content. They also have a lot of fiber. Hence, the song beans, beans the musical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot! That song is not 100% true. The more you eat, I mean on a daily basis putting a handful in your salad, or omelets or soup the healthier you will be. I am not talking about eating a big plate of baked beans. When you actually eat beans (legumes) every meal, or at least every day, you will become accustomed to them and you will not toot!

Potatoes are carbs. Sweet potatoes are better than whites because they have more fiber. Vegetables like potatoes, corn, legumes, rice are considered carbs in your diet while NON-starchy veggies are your negative calorie foods.

It is the fiber that the processed food diet is missing. Processed foods have no fiber, or very little fiber. So when you are eating processed foods, not only are you getting white grains, stripped of nutrients, you are also not getting the fiber. It is the fiber that reduces the carb count to less than zero is some cases. It is the fiber that keeps your metabolism burning. It is the fiber that aids in weight loss. White carbs, processed carbs are all sugar, no vitamins, nutrients or fiber. OK, I know some of you are saying, that they are enriched. Great, let’s strip our food of everything and throw in a handful of man-made vitamins!

Other negative Calorie Foods

Other negative Or Close To Negative Calorie Foods include:

garlic
lettuce
onions
papayas
spinach
turnip
zucchini
fresh cranberries
grapefruit
broccoli
cabbage
carrots
cauliflower
celery
chicory
chili peppers
cucumbers
endive
lemons
asparagus
beets

Even fruits are close to being a negative calorie food and should be something that is part of everyone’s diet.

There are many more foods that are close to being negative calorie and you can probably figure out which ones those are intuitively. If you ate nothing but negative calorie foods for the rest of your life, then you would waste away to nothing. Your body would be deficient in calories for energy and over time you would become more and more weak and eventually just disappear! Of course, that won’t happen in this day and age.

Add some negative calorie foods into every meal to feel full and still lose weight. I

ncorporating negative calorie foods into your weight loss program will fill you up, give you vitamins, minerals, fiber and most of all it will keep your metabolism roaring like a bonfire!

You Can Lose Weight Too!

Eat To Increase Metabolism

Reema asked me to help her loose weight in her comment on the article about losing weight without slowing your metabolism. You truly can lose weight by increasing your metabolism and still eat well.

I really need more information about your specific situation Reema. You said you were 37 and weighed 90 KG, that would be about 198 pounds. I can not tell how much weight you would want to loose to be healthy without more information. Your height is really what determines your ideal weight range. When we know your height and weight we can calculate your approximate BMI which is your Body Mass Index. Your body mass index or BMI is a measure of your weight relative to your height. It measures fat. BMI is a reliable indicator of your total body fat percentage, which is related to the risk of disease and death.

For example I am 54, which really has nothing to do with my weight, and I weigh 135 pounds or 64 kilograms. What determines my BMI is my height. I have a BMI or body fat percentage of approximately 21% which is ideal. You can calculate your BMI or body fat percentage at http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Once we know how much you need to lose it is easier to determine a weight loss program. In order to lose weight you will need to burn more calories than you consume. One pound of fat is worth 3500 calories. 1 half of a kilogram is equal to approximately 3500 calories. So, in order to loose a pound (a half kilogram) per week, you will want to consume 3500 less calories than you burn. It doesn’t matter if you are burning a pound of fat or consuming food to create a pound of fat, it is still a value of 3500 calories. It is 3500 calories going in as food and 3500 calories going out as exercise. If you eat 3,500 calories more than your body needs, you will put on about 1 pound or half of a kilogram. If you use up 3,500 calories more than you eat, you will lose about 1 pound in weight or half kilogram. The ideal way to lose weight and keep it off is to lose only 1 ½ pounds or .7 kilograms per week through simple metabolism lifestyle changes. This means that in order to loose .7 kilograms or a pound and a half per week you will want to have a deficit of 5250 calories per week. You can accomplish this through eating less calories and burning more calories through some exercise or activities.
